--- DO IT YOURSELF ENTRY --------- PURPOSE: To create a do-it-yourself (DIY) tactile Rubik's cube for individuals who are blind or have low vision. Step 1: Remove all color stickers on a Rubik's cube except for the orange side. Tweezers may be used for for this step. Step 2: Prepare all the tactile items by cutting the items into 0.625-inch squares. Step 3: Using the hot glue gun, glue like items to each of the five available sides (i.e. glue all the green felt squares to one side of the cube) staying within the smaller squares and ensuring that there is enough glue to keep the tactile pieces firmly in place. Repeat this process on each side with the other tactile items (fine and coarse sandpaper, tile spacers, plastic shelf paper). Once the glue has dried the tactile Rubik's cube is now ready to be used and puzzles solved! MATERIALS: Adhesive-backed green felt, clear checkered plastic shelf paper, small plastic "X" shaped tile spacers, fine sandpaper, coarse sandpaper, and a Rubix or Rubik's cube side that is blank on five sides and has the original orange stickers on one side. TOOLS: Hot glue gun, glue sticks, tweezers, paper cutter, and scissors. SKILLS REQUIRED: Basic craft ability. AUTHOR: nahani. TITLE: Blind Cube. WEBSITE: Instructables.
