The iARM is a robotic arm designed for use by individuals with upper extremity amputation, severe physical or upper extremity disabilities, or spinal cord injury. The iARM is designed to perform the functions of an arm and hand, including grasping objects using a gripper and moving those objects once they are held. Common arm positions may be stored to easily regain frequent positions. The iARM can lift up to 1.5 kilograms (kg). Using the optional bracket, the iARM can be attached to a powered wheelchair or a stationary chair, or it can be mounted on a bed. It also can be mounted on the optional tripod to stand independently. This robotic arm can be controlled by a number of input devices, including a headrest switch, keypad, joystick, buttons, foot switch, and computer. It has numerous safety features including slip-clutch joints to protect the user. The joint cannot extend beyond the manufacturer's pre-set distance velocity. Also, a computerized alarm system continuously monitors the gripper velocity and pressure to prevent damage or accidental collision. This device is waterproof and weather resistant; it is designed for use in temperatures below freezing and in extreme heat. When not in use, the robotic arm folds for storage. The iARM includes a gripper, input device, joystick, keypad, switches, software license, computerized control box, user manual and carrying case. COMPATIBILITY: The iARM's C++ based software is compatible with any computer or operating system that runs C++. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: The iARM requires a USB port to connect to a computer. POWER: Uses standard 24-volt direct current (DC) wheelchair batteries and can use the batteries of any powered wheelchair on which it is mounted. OPTIONS: A lift that provides 20 centimeters (cm) of extra reach; a bracket to attach the iARM to a power wheelchair, a stationary chair or a bed frame; a tripod that provides a stationary base when not attached to a wheelchair or furniture; and an extended service contract with help desk support. DIMENSIONS: It has a standard reach of 80 cm. WEIGHT: 9 kilograms. WARRANTY: 3-year full service warranty.
